Descripción: Chandelier of the sacrifice . Late- Roman- period oil lamp. Decoration of six-tips stars and heart-shaped hearts and leaves surrounding the disk. A male carácter, front and standing, holds a lamb with his left hand and a bird, probable the dove for the sacrifice, in his right hand. The old mosaic law demanded the ritual sacrifice of a lamb and a dove during the presentation of the children in the temple, forty days alter they were born, from where the Christianism picked up the sacrificial sense of both offerings, symbols of innocence. Descripción: Late Roman chandelier. The progression of the Christian faith during the Low Empire was showed slightly in the usage of chandeliers decorated with the anagrams of Christ, the Crismon, in this case very atypical, composed by the small string of dots and with laurels to both sides, where alpha and omega are usually located. Another characteristic of this small lamp is that it has two small pierced handles to be hanged by a small chain, showing the shape of a triangle with the piercing of the handle, characteristic more common in the examples in bronze than in the ones in terracottas.
