|
| Descripción: This beautiful sitting goddess, maybe Hera or more likely Demeter, datable about VI before Christ, is representative of the important role in the Greek religion of the Mother Hera, the only one enthroned next to Zeus himself or, of the myth of Demeter (the Life cycle, base of the agricultural cultures) and Persephone (the redeemer, who goes down to the Hades), place from where the Life cycle rises: goddess of Life, of the emerging, but also of Death from the cyclical renewal which merges from the Earth (Gea, Rea), womb and grave. We can talk about a big Mediterranean mother goddess , Mater Nutricia, Inanna, Isthar, Isis, Astarté or Tania from which all kind of life rises. |
